MICHAEL KENNA: Photographs & Stories

by Michael Kenna

This book is a journey. Simply that. A chance to escape, become lost. And these incredible photographs align with Alas View’s narrative - navigating places foreign and familiar, winding through black and white scenes full of spacious calm.

The craft of photography is never obsolete, even in this digital world. These photographs are hand crafted of silver gelatin prints and beautifully printed on Japanese Kasadaka paper.

Michael Kenna is arguably the most influential landscape photographer of his generation. Often working at dawn or during the night, he has concentrated primarily on the interaction between atmospheric conditions of the natural landscape, and human-made structures and sculptural mass.

His work is shown at permanent museum collections at The National Gallery, Washington, D.C.; The Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai; and The Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Published in association with the Center for Photographic Art and limited to 2,000 casebound copies.
