A Legacy of Ancient Oaks
by Mark Frith
We are all familiar with oak trees. The oldest oaks are literally thousands of years old. They are magnificent, mighty, and are a symbol of much strength and resilience. They seemingly live forever and hold incredible history.
Artist Mark Frith happened to grow up near ones of these oaks and developed a closeness to one local character—the Great Oak at Nibley Green. This oak tree inspired Mark to begin a remarkable series of large-scale oak drawings, in fact 22 large scale portraits of Britain's oldest living oaks.
Each of his drawings details an English oak in its entirety, in intricate graphite works. Each piece includes a fully shown tree along with detailed close-ups of the drawings. Not only that, if you want to travel to see the tree itself, it includes directions / locations where to find each tree.
Want to experience the majesty of these oak trees? Then this books is for you. Either view them at home or get out and view them for yourself…..after all, Mark has inspired us to do both.
