Landscapes

by Darren Almond and Carl Blechen

What an interesting idea….Darren Almond is an artist and photographer based in London. Darren traced Carl Blechen’s (German Painter (1798–1840)), path and photographed the exact same landscapes Carl sketched. He then juxtaposes his photographs with Blechen’s sketches.

And exploring Darren’s work is breath taking. His diverse practice evocatively deals with time and duration as well as personal and historical memory. Some of his signature work include landscape photographs taken with a long exposure time of 15 minutes or more under the light of a full moon. His multi-screen film installations focus on his family and memories.

There is much more to Darren Almond’s body of work and this book is a great starter into the exploration of his art….
